Gov. Rick Snyder has announced the appointment of Timothy Lukenda of Brimley to the 海角社区 Board of Trustees. He replaces Doug Bovin of Gladstone, who served on the board 2010-18.
The eight-person board is LSSU鈥檚 governing body.
鈥淚 thank these highly qualified individuals for serving the state of Michigan,鈥 Snyder said. 鈥淚 am confident the work they do on these boards and commissions will positively impact the state for years to come.鈥
Timothy Lukenda is president and CEO of Extendicare Inc. He previously served as a board member of the Health Care Association of Michigan and the American Healthcare Association. He also is past board chair of the Sault (Ont.) Area Hospital.

Lukenda holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame as well as a bachelor鈥檚 degree in laws and a master鈥檚 degree in business administration from the University of Western Ontario.
He will serve an eight-year term expiring Jan. 27, 2026. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate.
LSSU President Rodney Hanley welcomed the governor鈥檚 latest appointments.
鈥淭im Lukenda has an extensive background and knowledge of 海角社区 combined with educational experiences on both sides of the U.S.-Canadian border,” Hanley said. 鈥淭his could provide significant insights into leveraging LSSU鈥檚 鈥極ne Rate鈥 tuition by growing our relationship with Soo College in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario potentially increasing our international enrollment.聽His expertise in the health care industry and business achievements would mesh very well in supporting the vision we have for LSSU鈥檚 future.鈥
The Lukenda name is not new to LSSU. Timothy鈥檚 parents, Mae and Lou, and the rest of the family recognized the importance of LSSU鈥檚 South Hall Renovation Project and provided leadership support in its transformation into R.W. Considine Hall. The building, dedicated on April 21, 2017, is home to the Lukenda School of Business.
