Novelist, editor-in-chief of聽Enchanted Living, and fairy tale expert Carolyn Turgeon will visit 海角社区 on Monday, April 1 and Tuesday April 2, for a fairy tale lecture, Q&A, master class, and reading of her work and public reception.
The fairy tale lecture and Q&A will take place on Monday, April 1 from 6:00-7:50pm in Crawford 303. Turgeon will discuss the process she used in writing her fairy tale novels retelling:聽Godmother: The Secret Cinderella Story聽(Crown, 2009),聽Mermaid聽(Crown, 2011), and聽The Fairest of Them All聽(Simon & Schuster, 2013).
The following day, on Tuesday, April 2 from 3:00-4:20 p.m. in CONS 229, Turgeon will give a master class on fiction with the topic, 鈥淲riting a Vivid World.鈥
Following the master class, the public is welcome to hear Turgeon鈥檚 work, ask questions about the writing process and purchase signed copies of her books from 5:00-6:30 p.m. during an open reception and reading in the Kenneth J. Shouldice Library.
All aspiring writers and interested readers are invited. Admission is free.

Carolyn Turgeon has been editor in chief of聽Enchanted Living听(蹿辞谤尘别谤濒测听Faerie Magazine) since 2013. She is the author of聽The Faerie Handbook聽(Harper Design, 2017) and聽The Mermaid Handbook聽(Harper Design, 2018) as well as five novels:聽Rain Village聽(Unbridled, 2006),聽Godmother聽(Crown, 2009),聽Mermaid聽(Crown, 2011),聽The Next Full Moon聽(Downtown Bookworks, 2012), and聽The Fairest of Them All聽(Simon & Schuster, 2013).

Turgeon’s visit to Sault Ste. Marie is part of by the 海角社区 Visiting Writer Series, which is organized and sponsored by the LSSU Creative Writing Program.聽It was created to bring highly-acclaimed literary authors and poets to the campus to raise awareness of LSSU鈥檚 Creative Writing Program and to bring together the community and college in a shared literary experience.
